Shadows of Resistance (Tentative Name)

Post Godsickle Missions

After successfully turning the Godsickle over to the grateful (well for them anyway, they didn’t look at you with disdain at least) Iosans this is the current state of Llael. Most of the country is under tentative control of the Highborn/Trollkin/Cygnaran Coalition. The first exception is the city of Merwynn, which is occupied by an incredibly substantial force of Khadorans, but their supply lines are currently cut so the plan there is to force Khador to an armistice by keeping those troops isolated. The second exception is the city of Leryn, which is currently occupied by the Protectorate of Menoth, currently the Protectorate has been unusually light handed with the citizenry compared to their usual actions towards non Menites. Apparently the new Hiearch, Severius, places practical concerns with regards to the Protectorate’s industrial and agricultural resources over the zealotry typical of most Protectorate leaders.

Llael is still without a potential ruler to place upon the throne. Probably the best claimant has been living in Five Fingers under a false identity. Even if he is to merely be a figurehead, having a legitimate King would serve as an important sign that Llael has reestablished itself as a nation. Also some are suggesting as part of the terms of the armistice we would have the male heir marry “Empress” Ayn Vanar. Your mission is to find and retrieve him and bring him to Laedry or if you think he would be unsuitable, find another of the surviving heirs. (If you decide to accept this one let me know whether you prefer to retrieve the known heir or seek others so I can make up more.)

The Legion of Everblight has been flying monstrosities over Llaelese territory. We haven’t been able to impede their progress for the simple reason they’ve flown over the area around Leryn and we haven’t wanted to provoke the Protectorate, and the monstrosities have intentionally avoided most of the Protectorate’s emplacements. Unfortunately Cyrissist anti air weaponry shall not be available in time, as that sort of weaponry was unneeded when fighting Khador or Cryx. Therefore we want you to negotiate with Grand Exemplar Kreoss in Leryn some sort of deal with regards to their munitions as the only known weaponry that could be effective are the Menites’ deliverer rockets.

Khadoran forces under Karchaev the Terrible have launched an attack on Point Bourne in an attempt to break the current stalemate. We would like you to take this opportunity to reinforce Cygnar and capture Karchaev so that we can try him for warcrimes. The Khadorans are not inclined to turn over any war criminals as a part of the armistice so this may be our only chance to capture the man who destroyed Riversmet.

Omnipotent Ergonus of the Blackclads has apparently been applying pressure on Madrak Ironhide in an attempt to make him break his alliance with us. So far Ironhide has remained steadfast in his support of a free Trolkin State as a part of Llael and there is some thought the Druids might be making an Assassination attempt soon. While its likely the Trollkin can handle this themselves, it would be good for our alliance to lend forces to insure Madrak’s safety.

As part of the ongoing armistice negotiations with Khador they have agree to allow us to send a small force into Merwynn to capture the traitorous Prime Minister Glabryn. Since he has collaborated with them they have refused to actually turn him over, but if we can manage to catch him as he flees the city, they will not interfere in any way.

Post Necrofactorium Missions

These missions will be available after the Necrofactorium has been dealt with.

The fortress Ravensguard is a cornerstone of Khadoran military operations. Its cannons and massive garrison prevent Cygnaran forces from launching strikes into Khador or to liberate Llael. Now is finally the time to make use of the Cyrrissist’s technical aids to turn the tide against Khador. You will be infiltrating the fortress and destroying their powder supply, likely carving two massive holes in the fortress, forcing the Khadorans to abandon it.

The ultimate goal of the Highborn Covenant is to restore the monarchy of Llael as an independent nation. Obviously, to do this we need a king. The popular choices are Lord General Vladirov and the Archduke of Rhydden, but both of them have indicated they don’t want the job. Anastasia Di Bray, an agent of the Unseen Hand, has located a surviving son of the late king posing as a naval officer in Five Fingers. Your mission is to find him and escort him to Corvis.

Asheth Magnus, Cygnar’s second most wanted criminal (after Vinter Raelthorne himself) has been sighted in the outlaw town of Ternon Crag. Determine what he is doing there and either sabotage his operations or capture him.

Additional Mission

This mission will be available following the mission to Redwall.

A tense cease fire is in effect on the Thornwood front between Cygnar, Khador and the Protectorate. Local representatives of those factions as well as members of the Cult of Cyriss and Circle Orboros will be meeting to discuss what to do about the massive Cryxian factory under the Thornwood. Discussions will be ongoing but action will take place while the Lichlords explain their infighting to Toruk back on the Scharde Islands as presumably the factories will be easier to destroy during that time.

Job Options

Now that you have acquired allies whose forces when consolidated with the highborn will be a considerable force, what is needed is to acquire other resources and disrupt the Khadorans while prepping for the major offensive.

Colonel Jarov offers the following missions.

Lord General Alreg Vladirov, Archduke of New Umbrey and the finest tactician in Llael was missing and presumed dead after the battle of Laedry. An agent of the Unseen Hand recently reported that the Lord General is in fact a prisoner in the Skirov Khardstadt, and that the Khadorans are not aware of how valuable a prisoner they have. Beyond his skill as a general, his rescue and participation in the resistance would likely serve to galvanize the citizens of New Umbrey.

A bandit by the name of Aramel has offered us the opportunity to rob a Khadoran supply train. He has apparently insinuated his men into the train’s crew and would like our assistance in robbing the train. In return for his logistical assistance we would allow him to keep any items that are not Llaelese treasures or military goods and also agree to give him a full pardon for past transgressions. It should be noted his greed has led to him botching many of his previous robbery attempts.

Vyctor offers the following missions.

Rhul has indicated that as long as Khador allows their trade to travel to Cygnar they will not be entering the current war. In order to herd them along in that path, I propose we disguise ourselves as Khadorans and attack Rhulic barges on the Black River. This would increase tensions and likely lead to military action by the dwarves.

The Butcher has been left idle in Laedry due to his brutality and tendency to lose himself and completely obliterate everyone when attacking. He seethes with barely contained anger at all times, in particular against those who have been cruel to women. To that end, I propose that we beat the wife of Posadnik Jorak Millianov of Laedry and frame him for it. This would likely result in the Butcher going insane and attacking Millianov’s home or HQ. Even with the Posadnik’s guards the Butcher would likely be able to burst through and kill him greatly weakening the occupation’s hold.

Welcome to your Adventure Log!
A blog for your campaign

Every campaign gets an Adventure Log, a blog for your adventures!

While the wiki is great for organizing your campaign world, it’s not the best way to chronicle your adventures. For that purpose, you need a blog!

The Adventure Log will allow you to chronologically order the happenings of your campaign. It serves as the record of what has passed. After each gaming session, come to the Adventure Log and write up what happened. In time, it will grow into a great story!

Best of all, each Adventure Log post is also a wiki page! You can link back and forth with your wiki, characters, and so forth as you wish.

One final tip: Before you jump in and try to write up the entire history for your campaign, take a deep breath. Rather than spending days writing and getting exhausted, I would suggest writing a quick “Story So Far” with only a summary. Then, get back to gaming! Grow your Adventure Log over time, rather than all at once.
